GoodYarn workshops for Small Business

The first step in addressing mental health in the workplace is being able to talk about it.

To help business owners and staff to do this, the Southern Wellbeing Trust will be offering limited, free access to a series of award-winning GoodYarn mental wellbeing workshops to support the Queenstown Lakes business community from May 2022.

The 3 hour in-person workshops are evidence-based and designed to help staff and leaders of small to medium sized organisations (of under 50 employees) to talk about mental health in the workplace. Our workshop facilitators are people from the Queenstown Lakes business community who are passionate about supporting mental health and understand the real life challenges our business and local community continues to face.

The workshops will cover:

  • What is mental health and how can I look after it

  • What are the signs and symptoms of mental distress

  • How to talk to someone you are concerned about

  • What support is available locally and nationally

By attending the workshops employees and employers will learn practical skills and advice to support their own mental wellbeing and the wellbeing of their colleagues, family and community around them. The workshops are interactive and participants will get to take away a printed workbook for future reference.

This is a valuable opportunity to help your team to build confidence and skills to talk about mental health and promote a culture of connection and harm reduction.

Places are limited - only 15 spots per workshop. Locations include Wanaka, Queenstown, Frankton and Arrowtown. The workshops will be taking place at local cafes and other small business venues to help 'give back' to the small business community. Book your workshop place now on the links below.

This workshop has been made possible thanks to funding from the Te Hau Toka Southern Lakes Wellbeing Group.

“ It’s never been more important to focus on our mental wellbeing and check in on those around us who might be doing it tough. The GoodYarn workshop gave me simple tools to talk about mental health, to start those often daunting conversations that can really make all the difference.”
