Queenstown based charitable Trust Headlight is thrilled to share that two of its team and one of its past facilitators are all finalists in this year’s Inspirational Women Awards NZ.

The annual awards recognises women who are making a difference in New Zealand, whilst raising awareness and fundraising for domestic violence.

The Headlight team is working hard to increase the mental health knowledge and skills in priority communities. The team were thrilled to learn that its Founder and Chief Executive Anna Dorsey and Project Lead Anna Wang have been chosen as two of this year’s finalists.

Anna Dorsey is one of three finalists in the ‘Women of Inspiration’ category - which recognises women who are role models and change-makers in the Otago/Southland community and are bringing about positive change. Anna has been nominated based on her work these past four years initiating and bringing mental health education to priority communities, which has positively impacted hundreds of lives, and created a new model of mental wellbeing for communities nationwide.

Anna Wang is one of three finalists in the “Women of Resilience” category - which recognises women in the Otago/Southland region who have overcome adversity to give back, shown kindness, and become strong role models. Anna is recognised for her efforts supporting her local Chinese community to be connected and integrate within local events and networks as well as for her work bringing mental health education to communities with Headlight.

In addition, one of Headlight’s long standing mental health workshop facilitators Carol Morgan is also a finalist in the "Woman of Community" category. Her nomination acknowledges her work supporting migrant and other marginalised communities through her Latinos for NZ charity, Women’s Circle groups and other local initiatives including her mental health education work.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that our current and past team members have been recognised for the difference they continue to make in our community “ said Marion Poore, Chair of Headlight Trust. “ It’s wonderful to see their efforts being celebrated and held up as a role-model to inspire other women.

The category winners for the regional and national awards will be announced on Saturday 30th November at the Inspirational Awards Gala at the Rydges Lakeland resort. To learn more visit:https://www.inspirationalwomenawards.org/
