About the GoodYarn Community Workshops

The GoodYarn community programme is based on an award-winning, evidence-based mental health education programme that has been successfully helping large workplaces and rural communities to talk about mental health since 2014.

The 3 hour workshops are designed to help everyday people to increase their understanding of mental health and to learn the skills and confidence to talk to someone who is struggling.

The workshops are interactive, practical and enjoyable. They cover:

  • What is mental health?

  • What are the signs and symptoms of mental distress?

  • What do you say to someone who is struggling?

  • What support is available locally and nationally?

Workshops are delivered by peer facilitators, members of our diverse local community with lived experience of mental distress who are passionate about mental health and supporting community wellbeing.

Our workplaces are delivered in a language, location and time that best suits the audience we are seeking to support. They are designed for people who are mentally well but looking to up skill their knowledge and understanding of mental health so they can better support those around them who are struggling now or in the future.

Head Light Trust is a registered charitable trust in New Zealand #CC60075 and has been granted a licence by the Good Programmes Trust to deliver the GoodYarn Programme within the Queenstown Lakes District.
