Engaging in MHAW for the wellbeing of your workplace

By participating in MHAW activities, Southern organisations and communities have a valuable opportunity to support their mental health, increase positive connection with those around them and have fun! MHAW helps us all to understand what steps we can take to boost our mental health and support our wellbeing.

For businesses, the benefits of engaging with MHAW span from boosting staff rapport to flying your flag of awareness to the wider community by highlighting the social impact of mental health.

✔️ Social responsibility that counts: this is a meaningful way to show you care

✔️ Looking after your staff has flow-on effects for your community and your customers

✔️ Some find it difficult to share their problems with friends and family - workmates can be lifesaver

  • “Being in business can be tough. Queenstown Business helps to connect our business

community through our monthly Business After 5 evenings, where members get to relax, share

    stories, and meet new people.

We take pride in offering our members some of the best training and development

opportunities that are available in NZ. We strive to help our members grow and learn in

their roles, as well as meet other people in similar roles at local businesses. Fostering cross

business connections throughout all level of the business community is important, and we

encourage our members to get all their team involved in what we do here at the Chamber and

celebrate success. Whāia te mātauranga hei oranga mō koutou - Seek after learning for the

    sake of your wellbeing.”

Sharon Fifield CE of Queenstown Business Chamber of Commerce.

  • “We’re thrilled to be participating in the Headlight MHAW challenge. The mental wellbeing of

our team is really important to us at Millbrook, and we’re excited about the activities we are

planning for this coming event. For example, we’ll be holding a shared lunch to encourage

staff to share the food and stories that are important to them and their culture, and also we’ll

be running a staff challenge, asking team members to ‘pass it on’ to help get people engaged

in the 5 ways to Wellbeing. We’ll also be working with the golf team to develop fundraising

opportunities to give back to the mental wellbeing of our wider community. We encourage all

    local businesses to get involved.”

Louise Baines People and Culture Manager.

  • “Ziptrek supports the wellbeing of both guests and staff alike through its dedication to keeping

your mind healthy. Each of the 5 ways to wellbeing are ticked by keeping you active as you

take in the stunning views, connecting with others on all walks of life, engaging in conversation

around sustainability and the environment all while allowing guests to give back to the

community they visit. For MHAW, Ziptrek is excited to get even more creative and in the ‘flow’

for wellbeing with new ideas such as introducing staff yoga classes at lunch hour.”
